Kenzie was born a typical, thriving little bundle of energy. She met all her milestones and kept us busy with her gymnastic like feats. She loves to smile and sing and was using new words, it seemed, everyday… until a few months after her second birthday. I noticed that she had stopped using words and was not really adding a lot of new ones to her vocabulary. At first, I thought it was because she was the second child and her older sister loves to talk for her, but as time went on, I noticed other sensory and social issues.
After another person brought concerns to my attention, we took her to the doctor and he sent us to a specialist. The specialist diagnosed her as having an Autism Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Integration Disorder. Autism is such a mysterious disorder and the only proven treatment (not cure) is ABA therapy.
This journey started a little over a month ago for us and it is often difficult, but it is growing us all in ways we never expected. I KNOW God has great plans for my sweet angel and I know He will continue to provide.
I am a stay at home mom right now and the therapy is extremely expensive. Any assistance you can give would be a true blessing to my beautiful daughter and her future success. I would also ask that you pray for Kenzie and our family. Autism affects the entire family…my desire is that her life and the way we live this life-long journey with her will bring Glory to God.
